Our Sons Rise's Family and Community Services program supports families across the Washington metropolitan area with school supplies, food, toys, and opportunities for connection. We help address everyday needs while treating each family with dignity, care, and respect.
Throughout the year, we bring families together through community activities and shared experiences that strengthen relationships and encourage belonging. These connections help build a supportive network where parents, children, and neighbors can grow together.
Our commitment extends to creating safer communities through participation in the "Our Streets, Our Future" gun violence awareness and prevention initiative. By supporting families and encouraging community involvement, we work toward neighborhoods where our sons and their families can thrive.
ENCOURAGING YOUNG READERS
Our Sons Rise’s Encouraging Young Readers program introduces kindergarten-aged children to the joy of books through engaging stories and connections with positive role models. We create welcoming reading experiences that spark curiosity, inspire imagination, and help our sons build confidence as young learners.
Through shared reading, storytelling, and conversation, children strengthen their reading, speaking, and listening skills. We encourage participants to ask questions, explore new ideas, and share their thoughts in a supportive environment that celebrates their voices and experiences.
